From a backyard garage to the top of the world championship. This, in a nutshell, is the story of TGM, a manufacturer born almost as a game from the passion of three very young friends and became, within a few years, the bogeyman of the big Japanese companies engaged in the Motocross World Championship.
An all-Italian “miracle”, indeed all “Parmesan”, an unrepeatable alchemy between bike, team, and rider. Yes, the rider: Michele Rinaldi, a fourteen-year-old boy who grew up alongside the company becoming the first Italian to win a World Grand Prix riding an Italian bike and to come close to the world title, then “given” by the sports power to the Japanese competition, with a questionable decision. But TGM is also a company that has produced more than 40 different models for a total of over nine thousand units in a decade.
The Parmesan brand has been, in essence, a phenomenon that has attracted, for all these reasons, the interest of motocross enthusiasts and has gathered so much affection and sympathy, feelings still tangible today during the TGM Days proposed annually by the homonymous historical register.
Among the four-wheeled jewels present at Automotoretrò 2025, the
Alfa 75stands out, the sedan with a sporty soul which, 40 years later, still occupies a special place in the hearts of fans of the Alfa brand.
Born from the collaboration of the Lancia Thema Club International with the Alfisti Veneto of the Alfa Romeo Official Club, the exhibition aims to present the entire range of versions produced of the Giulietta heir, from the 1.6 first carburetor series, up to the latest 1.6 ie ’93, passing through the more famous versions such as the 2.5 and 3.0 V6, up to the Twin Spark and Turbo in the final ASN Numbered versions.
The Alfa 75, created to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the car manufacturer, represents the perfect combination of aesthetics and driving functionality, thanks to the work of the Alfa Romeo Style Center directed by Ermanno Cressoni, who managed to synthesize in a youthful and the mechanical evolutions and road performance of the car were modern, of which over 380 thousand examples were produced..
Although it did not present any epochal technical-mechanical innovations, its success was such that it remained on the list for the following 8 years and continued its career going beyond national borders, establishing itself on world markets, unlike other Alfa models which were canceled by the new property.
During the Automotoretrò weekend, the rally dedicated to the owners of the Alfa 75 is scheduled,on display in the internal squares of the Fiere di Pama exhibition centre.
For the first time in history, Automotoretrò will host a rally-exhibition within the Fiere di Parma exhibition center which aims to bring back to Italy the largest number of surviving Lancia Delta S4 cars. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of his debut at the R.A.C. of Great Britain in 1985, some of the only 200 road examples produced by the car manufacturer Lancia, will be celebrated in a special section of the Show dedicated to historic motoring, which will be held in Parma on 8 and 9 March 2025. Trying to retrace the main historical stages, the technical innovations introduced, the legendary and tragic anecdotes that dotted the short life of the Delta S4, Automoretrò aims to share and, above all, pass on the passion of an all-Italian history of the Lancia brand.
Welcomed by the warmth of the Emilian Motorvalley, the cars will take to the track first at the Varano de Melegari racetrack and then parade from the center of Parma until they position themselves inside the pavilions of the Fair. Historical notes and technical characteristics
The Lancia Delta S4 was a meteor from a sporting point of view: following its construction, after the wonderful debut in 1985 at the last race of the Rally championship in Great Britain with the young Henry Toivomen and the veteran Marku Allen, it established itself among the dominators at 1986
Monte Carlo Rally. However, due to an uncontrolled escalation of power due to its technical characteristics that made it indomitable, car 038, its code name, competed only in that season and then faced the abolition of the entire group B in 1987.
